About:
British born Katharine Dufault is a New York Times-reviewed artist, curator and visual arts consultant. She has advised non-profit gallery boards, sat on visual arts panels and served as juror for several awards. She graduated with honors from Columbia University, with a degree in painting and literature after studying visual arts, graphic design and photography at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, England.

As a mutli-media artist, Dufault’s practice includes working in oils, encaustic paint, watercolor  printmaking and photography. Each medium imposes its own set of limitations which challenge and excite her practice. The recent work moves towards a freer composition, away from the didactic horizon line of her earlier landscape paintings. She has created a new cubist vocabulary with discrete areas of rich opaque color. “I want the work to attract the viewer with beauty and simultaneously prompt curiosity. I attempt a modern rendering of the ancient form.” She regularly exhibits her work which is included in many corporate and private collections including Brian Murphy Interior Design; Cove Leigh Club, Rye, NY; Dearborn Design Studio, Westchester, NY; Matthew Yee Interiors, NY; Westchester Medical Center, Westchester, NY among others.

Dufault has curated half a dozen exhibitions including the first - and only - solo show for mid-century industrial designer Irving Harper. She organized the display of over 70 of the artists never-before-seen intricate and whimsical paper artworks. Dufault has designed and taught numerous art workshops and classes and spear-headed outreach programs in the community.  “I enjoy being immersed in the art world and find each role informs the others.”

Dufault uses her curatorial experience and knowledge of the art world for her Westchester-based consulting service, State Of The Art. She advises residential and corporate clients on every aspect of artwork acquisition, placement and installation.
